In this intermediate level workshop participants will:

  • Identify the importance of spatial perspectives in population health and the uses of GIS in population health.
  • Explore various spatial datasets and GIS methods using several population health case-studies
  • Critically interpret GIS approaches and methods in population health.

Longitudinal Data Analysis: Latent

Growth Curve Modelling with Mplus

(Day 1 of 2)

Mplus command codes sent by email, refreshment breaks and lunch 

-Course maximum of 40

In this intermediate level workshop participants will:

  • Learn skills needed to apply specific longitudinal statistical techniques to real data using Mplus. The command codes and examples provided during the workshop will make it simple for participants to apply what they have learned to their own research.
  • Gain knowledge and understanding of longitudinal data analysis which will allow participants to better understand articles where these techniques have been applied.
  • Gain knowledge about the practical use of latent growth curve modeling.

In this introductory level workshop participants will gain an understanding of:

  • The required components of a child development monitoring system;
  • The necessary qualities of each components of a comprehensive developmental surveillance system: population monitoring, longitudinal studies, administrative data linkage, social indicators; and
  • How information from a comprehensive monitoring system could be used to inform decision-making at every level and what current work is being undertaken toward such a system in Canada

Governance of Researchable Data

Repositories: establishing and operating data repositories

In this intermediate level workshop participants will gain an understanding of:

  • Data researchable data repository models and databanks operating internationally, their governance arrangement, and stage of development.
  • The key factors contributing to the successful establishment of a researchable data repository.
  • Strategies and practical steps for establishing and operating a data repository to support the timely provision of high quality researchable data and policy analysis.
